I think this forum is small (not too small), simple and thats the best it could be! I would say keep it like that

Competitions??? Can lead to bad blood and ruin a forum..especially if there is prize giving involved!!!!
If yes, I would wait a while until the forum is well established and everyone knows who is who and what is what.
One thing...not too much background stuff on the forum pages..it is distractive...and somehow make the cursor a differnt colour, if I want to edit say a spelling mistake I can´t see the thing.
