Painted knights

I had a horse and a knight which I haven´t painted yet, so I´ve put them together and made a falling knight out of them. It`s the kicking knight from Valdemar with a Zvezda helmet. I hope you like it. The picture shows him together with two other falling knights (no "conversions"). I´m still not sure about the horse´s legs; is the choice of colour good or should the grey be a bit brighter or even totally white? Critical comments are welcome.

Hi Ben
Nice Idea , the legs should not be only white but i would prefer black for parts of the legs .

Great work and shows very well what happened to the French knights when facing the brutal and effective britsh archers. I am still amazed each time when I think about that the longbow was so effective that the last time it was used by the english was actually at Waterloo... that is right to fight Napoleon!

Best regards

Yes, the power of the english longbows... That´s exactly what I want to show on the diorama. It´s not easy because all manufacturers just have knights in full action, riding towards the enemy and on a diorama it looks like they will ride down the English easily. But the falling knights sets are just great for my dio... Thanks to all for your replies...

I´m very happy about this figure; actually I don´t wanted to use the horse and the russian infantryman from the Valdemar battle-sets because they looked too much like russians than french. But after some conversions I think this figure fits very good for my crecy diorama. The "cloak" on the tail-side of the horse is made out of greenstuff and the knight´s helmet is a conversion of a Zvezda helmet. I´ve cut off the visor and glued it on another helmet to let the visor look opened. I hope you like it...

I use a needle that I´ve cut into the right length. Then I put two drops of wood glue (I use "Ponal") at the end of the needle so it looks like feathers when it´s dry. Very easy and a good effect

Looks like many hours of painting, the fleur de liljes on the horse is absolutely fantastic.
