Finally took the time to look at this link. Seems to be good medieval fantasy.
Ever checked 'Alexander, The Neva Battle? In German translated as 'Alexander der Kreuzritter'. A Russian movie (2008) about Alexander Nevsky's battle against the Swedish crusader. Or 'Stara Basn' a polish movie about the pre-christian era were local people figth against a local tryrant who has called upon the vikings to subdue a revolt against his reign. Just check on You tube : Stara Basn - Arkona - Po Yroi Zemle ' and you get a rather complete overview of the movie with some great music from the russian pagan metal band Arkona on top of it (at least to my taste). Just give it a try

... this story is original in fantasy's world because is magyc is quite insignificantly.
For the books (George R. R. Martin) you can see here:Wikipedia: "A Song of Ice and Fire"
On the Author's site: "Home Page", you can see some heraldics: they look very good and similar with the Medieval ones !!!

.it's impossible to compare with LOTR! (and no comparison between films and books! and I'm a Tolkien's fan!)
"S of G and F" (SGF? ) is not a story for children or adolescents !)
sex and fury and heroes who dead ....
it's a particular and original world ...
.... I'm reading the books: not "easy literature!
it's the reasons for a good source of inspiration!

Well I might start on the books as well, also I can recommend the books about "Arn" by Jan Gulilou, they are much, much better then the movies.

LOTR with welsh hill sides. The only thing that looks medieval about it is Sean beans acting
. It´s HBO so they might be an entertainment value with graphic fighting and sex, but as a source of ideas...I think not.

Hi Paul! I know the books! so I can say that they are full of medieval inspiration... "sex and fury" are not the principal in it!
what is doing HBO with the books is not my problem! ..... In the same way, I really love the LOTR's books but I think that films are just a funny game!(with a poor crying Frodo!) and ridiculous elves and dwarves!.... Sam is the only one serious and credible !!!)

I agree pascal...the savage cut job done to LOTR.... Where was tom bombadill. Still however good the books were the films tend to influence the percieved "historical" look for a lot of people...and if Sean bean is in it (and HBO is making it) then it will nothing compared to the books....

for " the throne of game" , Martin seems to be very present on the realisation of the TV-series.... perhaps, it's a good thing!
now Peter Jackson is doing "Bilbo": I'm afraid !!! we'll must endure a 3D movie!!! (2 movies !!!!)

To see a quite good "fan-movie" : "The Hunt for Gollum" (click on the selected version )
