Hi all,

Work has begun on crews for the recent catapults made by Fredericus Rex/GreenLine. Below are the first figures...
- A figure ready to pull the string and launch
- Knight pointing
- Knight looking at the crew working
- And footsoldier carrying ammunition

The figures looks really good and you can use it for another scene.

Thanks and I agree that a Stone this size should be able to be carried by a well trained soldier 😄. More crew members will be added soon and they will be divided into two sets. Maybe a third crew for the latest siege machine by Fredericus Rex.

Just done the calculations on the weight for a 30cm Stone ball
Sandstone...with a density of 2.323 g/cc would be around 32-33kgs.
Granite (a more likely material for the ball) density of 2.750 g/cc would be around 38-39kgs so, possible but not as he is Holding it, unless he had wrists made of steel. Even a smaller granite ball, 25cms, would weigh 22 plus Kilos, a bag of cement.

Thanks, regarding the helmets then actually the soldiers involved in working on the machines did Wear personal protection. A machines like the one these are designed for were able to shoot about 80 meters, well within range of the Castle defenders.

Many persons have the idea that the knights/soldiers armour was very heavy and clumsy... this was actually not the case, and a fully armoured infantryman in 2014 do carry more weight...

But maybe there are some Experts out there?
