Hello 1:72 friends,

I have worked many years of this project. Making 2 castles of real stones. I've set them now in a landscape with a little river and a forest. Behind a painting landscape. The figures are from Italery, Zvesda and the last 3 years of Valdemar. You can see an toernoi and an come back of many knights on horses. In the gallery I have placed more pictures.

Hi Jan Paul,

Nice to see your work, really like the castles and as far as I remember you did build stone by stone?

Best regards

very good work!
I'll recognize some parts and figures of IMEX and Italeri's sets: one of the wood-bridge, "medieval tournament", the wood-Tower ....
good "recycling" ideas

Thank you! I have used some parts of revell and parts of napoleontic sets of Italery. The little ruïn on the mountain I thouht it's made in Russia (?) Indeed the castles are making stone by stone, a heavy work for the fingers.....

Yes, you can buy the stones (domus-kits) but I have working every stone with sandpaper!

I Thought so
To get a rough look on the stones...put them all together in a plastic pipe..like a drain pipe, and close both ends. Then roll and shake the pipe about. It will chip the stones, the chipped off bits will scratch the surfaces of them as well. It maight be easier than using sand paper and be a bit faster.
This is done in the "real" world with paving stones to make them look old, but they do it in a big cement mixer.

Hi Paul,

I think that's an good idea. Your glad that the stones now looking a little to new. But sandpaper is necessary for prevent big holes between the stones and for rounding towers. It's nice to read that you have a lot of experience with building things!
